Mahikeng-The North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development unequivocally
rejects the false, misleading, and irresponsible claims made by the Democratic Alliance and
published in certain media outlets last week.
The allegation that livestock at the state-owned Armoedsvlakte Research Farm in Naledi
Local Municipality are facing severe nutritional shortages due to the Department’s failure to
procure essential feed, lick, and salt supplements is entirely baseless, deceptive, and devoid of truth.
There has never been a failure to provide for the livestock at Armoedsvlakte or any other
state-owned farm.
The Department has consistently ensured equitable resource allocation
across all research farms in the province.
In addition to the feed procured earlier this year, a new purchase order has been issued to further supplement supplies, reinforcing our
unwavering commitment to ensuring uninterrupted livestock nutrition.
The Department firmly asserts that while governance and transparency are essential, all
allegations must be grounded in facts and thorough investigation.
Reckless misinformation not only misguides the public but also deliberately undermines the Department’s integrity
and the vital work being done to advance agricultural development and food security.
We urge stakeholders and the public to rely on verified information regarding our operations.
These unfounded allegations will not deter the Department or its workforce from
fulfilling its mandate.
Research farms remain a top priority, playing a critical role in generating valuable scientific data, informing best farming practices, and contributing to sustainable livestock management, food security, and economic growth within our province.

research and livestock development across the province.
